Tech news, reviews and code samples!

This just sent in, Rogers Wireless will be releasing 3 new android phones very shortly (as dummy display units are already showing up in stores)

There are 2 new LG devices the GT540 and GT350 and the new Motorola FlipOut!

LG 540

The first of the bunch is the LG GT540 (codename “Optimus”) has a 3inch resistive touch screen with a 3 megapixel camera and comes preloaded with Android 1.6 (which by todays standards is definitely behind the times).  Doesn’t offer much different than LG’s other Android phones that are already out but will probably be offered at a low price point to try and bridge the gap into smartphone land.

LG 350

The next, the LG GT350 (the LG “Town”) is slightly more exciting because it hasn’t be released on any network yet so it looks like Rogers has finally picked up a new device first (hooray for Canada). With it you can be expecting a wait for it… 3 inch resistive touchscreen (not sure if LG realizes that there are far better capacitive touchscreens out there that people tend to enjoy more…)  with a 2 megapixel camera, but where it will probably pick people up is the nice spacious bubble slide out QWERTY keypad that makes our texting so much more enjoyable especially since it has a resistive screen.  They both have the usual 3g, wifi, bluetooth/gps combo’s that we’re all accustomed to now, but will at least be another 2 solid releases from Rogers.

Motorola Flipout

The final phone the Motorola FlipOut will also be released soon, for all those missing the old style of Sidekick (or HipTop as Canadians may remember) will offer a 2.8 Capacitive touchscreen (Motorola gets it LG, why don’t you? Hint Hint) with a 3megapixel snapper and preloaded with Android 2.1 (yes with Moto’s own Moto Blur attached *sigh*) this isn’t the most exciting phone on the market but is at least a lot of fun to swivel back and forth!

We’ll have more information on these soon and expect a full review when these mid range Android phones hit the market very soon!!
