While our neighbours to the south have already been enjoying the new tech crack that is known as iPhone 4, us here in Canada will be able to purchase Apple’s new baby starting tomorrow July 30th. Unlike in the States iPhone 4 will not be an exclusive sale in Canada but Bell and Telus so far have done little to advertise it’s coming. Rogers has now just finally announced pricing as well as some extra treats and specials that their customers will be able to take advantage of at launch tomorrow.
The first big thing is the price and eligibility. Anyone who has been on a contract prior to June 7th 2010 will be eligible to upgrade (which they usually can’t do until after 2 years on the contract)! If you’ve been a loyal Rogers customer for more than 2 years already (see December 31, 2008) and haven’t done an upgrade since then, you’ll be eligible for an amazing discount of $480 off the price to bring them to $159/$269 for the 16GB/32GB respectively!! That’s the cheapest we’ve seen iPhone’s yet! If you signed up after December 31, 2008 or have upgraded since then, don’t fret as Roger’s will still give you $250 off which brings the 16GB/32GB beasts to $399/$499 respectively.
Secondly with this news, Rogers is also announcing the return of the $30 6GB data plan that can be added ontop of any plan on a 3 year contract, which is an amazing deal as always and I’m sure will be wildly popular.
The third and final big announcement is that they are introducing a iPhone/iPad sharing plan that if you’re on the new 6GB for $30 plan you can share it with your iPad for only $20 more a month (as opposed to its $15/month 250 mb or $35/month for 5GB) which for any lucky iPad owners should sound not too bad at all!
We still haven’t heard any official news from Telus or Bell yet, but rumours are flying around like usual, we’ll keep you updated when we find out.
As for everyone else with Rogers already, who will be lined up at 5am tomorrow waiting for that special 9am opening time? If you do, don’t forget to send in pictures of the lines to etechtour@gmail.com and we’ll stick them up here tomorrow morning.

Bell has announced their pricing for the iPhone 4 and while they are following basically the same game plan as rogers ($30 6GB/data) and same pricing for the phone itself on a 3 year contract they are trying to one up them by offering the same data sharing plan with the Ipad for $10/month instead of $20/month! Telus still has yet to announce their pricing but we expect it to be the same.
